SNAKE EYES.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.

HEALING AND AFTERCARE.
WHAT CAN U EXPECT?
Swelling (First 2-5 Days)
- During the first few days you can expect some swelling around the piercing. This is completely normal and simply your body's response to the procedure.
- You can reduce the swelling by using ice or ice cubes to provide relief. Avoid dairy ice products, as they are not conducive to the healing process.
Difficulty speaking and eating.
- In the first few days after having the Snake Eyes piercing done, you may experience discomfort when talking and eating.
- Due to the placement of the piercing close to the tip of your tongue, talking may be difficult at first, which may also result in a slight lisp.
- As the swelling goes down and you get used to the piercing, you will find that talking and eating becomes easier.
Blood.
- It is normal to experience some bleeding during and shortly after the Snake Eyes piercing as the skin is pierced and small blood vessels can break.
- Usually the bleeding stops after a short time. If the bleeding continues, gentle cooling with a clean, cold compress can help to reduce it.
- If the bleeding continues for a longer period of time, contact your piercer for advice.
Short formation.
- During the healing process, white crusts may form around the Snake Eyes piercing. This is completely normal and part of the natural healing process.
- Do not try to pick away these scabs as this can irritate the skin and slow the healing process.
- Gently clean the piercing according to the aftercare instructions ; the crusting will disappear as the piercing heals.
Fluid Separation.
- It is normal for a clear or slightly yellowish fluid to come out of the Snake Eyes piercing. This is a natural part of the healing process and usually means that the body is healing.
- The fluid may dry and form small crusts around the piercing, which is normal.
- Gently cleanse the area according to the aftercare instructions to avoid irritation.
White deposits.
- During the healing process of a mouth piercing, extra saliva can cause a white coating to form on the tongue. This is because the body is shedding dead cells and bacteria as part of the healing process.
- This is completely normal and a sign that the body is healing. Maintain good oral hygiene to aid the healing process and reduce the buildup.
Early Care and Precautions.
- The first phase of the healing process is very important and requires careful aftercare. By taking good care of your piercing during this critical period, you will lay a solid foundation for long-term recovery.
- Improper care can lead to damage to the tongue, possible damage to the piercing, and delayed or incomplete healing.
- Therefore, avoid unnecessary movements and do not play with the jewelry to prevent complications.
Changing Jewelry (After 1 Week)
- After the first week, most of the swelling will usually have gone away, so we recommend replacing the metal Snake Eyes jewelry with a plastic one immediately after this period.
- Metal jewelry is often too heavy, which can not only cause discomfort but also prolong the healing period due to the extra weight.
- Plastic barbells with lightweight plastic balls are ideal for the healing process and promote dental health, as they do not weigh down your tongue and do not damage or break your teeth.
Infection Risk.
- Although infections are relatively rare, it is important to follow aftercare instructions carefully to minimize the risk.
- Signs of an infection include persistent redness, excessive swelling, pus formation, or increasing pain.
Snake Eyes healing time.
- The first three days you can expect the most swelling. After the third day it will gradually decrease, and after a week most of the swelling will be gone from the Snake Eyes Piercing. There may still be some mild swelling, but after about two weeks all of the swelling should be gone.
- Even though the visible swelling will have gone down, your piercing is not yet fully healed, so it is important to still handle it with care.
- The total healing time is approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

ARE THE SNAKE EYES DANGEROUS?
In my experience, the Snake Eyes piercing is not as dangerous as is often claimed. I have been doing this piercing for 6.5 years and find that the risks are comparable to those of other piercings. Every piercing carries certain risks, and the Snake Eyes is no exception. The possible risks are largely the same as with other piercings and certainly not more serious.
RISKS OF THE SNAKE EYES PIERCING.
What is said online about the risks of the Snake Eyes piercing is partly in line with what I see in practice with my clients, but not everything is correct. Although complications can occur, not everyone experiences problems. It is important to realize that every body reacts differently, and with the right aftercare, most healing takes place without problems.
Despite the potential risks, many of my clients experience little to no problems, proving that with proper care and attention, this piercing can be done safely.
