NEVER TOUCH YOUR PIERCING.

Your piercing is similar to an open wound, making it susceptible to bacteria. Only when the wound has completely closed (when the piercing has healed) can you safely touch it. Until then, you should avoid touching or moving your piercing unnecessarily.

  • PREVENT INFECTIONS.

Bacteria can easily spread and find their way into your piercing hole. It is very important not to touch not only the piercing but also the area around it.

  • REOPENING THE WOUND.

Twisting or rotating the jewelry in a healing piercing opens the wound that needs to close for proper healing. This can cause irritation, redness, swelling and even small tears in the tissue, which slows the healing process.

  • REJECTION.

Continuous movement or twisting of the jewelry can cause the body to perceive the piercing as foreign. This can cause migration (shifting of the piercing) or even rejection (the body pushes the piercing out).
