CARTILAGE PIERCINGS
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Beginning pain or discomfort.
Immediately after the piercing, you may feel a sharp, stabbing pain or discomfort at the piercing site. This is normal and usually disappears within a few days.
Swelling and redness.
Your earlobe or cartilage may swell and look slightly red for a few days after the piercing. This is a normal part of the healing process.
Sensitivity.
The area around the piercing may be sensitive to the touch. Be careful when cleaning and avoid touching the area.
Liquid.
There may be a clear or slightly yellow fluid coming out of the piercing. This is normal and part of the body's natural healing process.
Crust formation.
There may be a small amount of dried discharge around the jewelry. This is also normal, and you should not try to remove it to avoid infection. Just make sure you clean it.
Itch.
As the piercing heals, you may experience some itching. Resist the urge to scratch, as this can introduce bacteria and lead to infection. Use a cotton swab to gently clean the area.
Risk of infection.
Although infections are relatively rare, it is important to follow proper aftercare instructions to minimize the risk. Signs of infection include persistent redness, excessive swelling, pus, or increased pain.
-
LONGER HEALING TIME.
Cartilage piercings typically take 6-12 months to fully heal. They may appear healed sooner from the outside, but it is important to continue with proper aftercare to ensure complete healing and avoid complications.
-
TAKE EXTRA CARE.
Cartilage piercings require special care during the healing process. We recommend always cleaning the piercing with a sterilized saline solution and avoiding unnecessary movement or trauma to the area.

SHRINK YOUR JEWELRY.
When you get a piercing, a longer barbell is used to allow for swelling. When the swelling goes down, it is important to switch to a shorter barbell. If the barbell is too long, it can move around too much, cause irritation, or cause the piercing to grow crooked.
Consult a professional piercer if you have any concerns or questions.
FOLLOW RECOMMENDED AFTERCARE.
Everyone's healing process is unique, so follow your piercer's specific recommendations for successful and comfortable healing.
